OFFICE MANAGEMENT AND STAFF POSITION

The Chief Executive Officer, WODC is the Administrative Head providing Secretarial support to the Council. Skeleton staff with utmost economy has been deployed on deputation from Government and with contract job workers the Council is implementing its agenda.

Important Projects

Identifying the deep disparity in the infrastructural facilities funds are being utilised all over the WODC areas. The priority sectors are irrigation which is .................% in the WODC area against 30% of the State average. Next is the Roads & Communications. Development of Urban sectors.

However, some of the important projects undertaken by WODC so far are as follows:-

 

KHURDA-BOUDH-SONEPUR-BOLANGIR-NUAPADA ROAD

The Government provides Rs. 15.00 crores from CRF and the WODC provides Rs. 15.00 crores annually. The estimated project cost is Rs. 120.00 crores to be completed in four years. So far, the WODC has provided Rs. 30.00 crores and the Government has provided only Rs. 15.00 crores from CRF.

TAKING OVER PONNY SUGAR LTD

The WODC has advanced Rs. 3.5 crores for revival of Ponny Sugar Ltd. providing financial assistance to M/s. Bijayananda Co-operative Society for complete revival of the Sugar Mills Ltd. through cooperative efforts.

 

SAMBALPURI BASTRALAYA

The Council has approved Rs. 3.5 crores for financing the Sambalpuri Bastralaya in form of equity share aimed at restoring the prestigious textile heritage of Western Orissa and providing livelihood to the nearly 5,000 weavers dependent of the Society.

FUNDING TO URBAN LOCAL BODIES

The WODC has provided much needed helps to the urban Local Bodies amounting to Rs. 7,75,00,000/-. The important achievements in this respect is the repair and renovation of Ring Roads of Sambalpur at Ainthapalli, Jharsuguda town roads, Rourkela town portions roads, Bolangir urban roads, Bargarh and Kalahandi urban roads and development of parks. All Urban Local Bodies have uniformly been provided with required funds for developing drainage, street roads street lights and public toilets.

HEALTH CARE FACILITIES

The WODC has provided equipment support to VSS Medical College with installation of Cobalt Plant with an estimated cost of Rs. 60.00 lakhs, QBC machine and Dialysis machine etc. Besides 4 Nos. of Blood Banks have been made functional with the assistance of WODC at Patnagarh, Sonepur, Boudh and Redhakhol. 15 Nos. of QBC machines have been provided to 10 District Headquarters Hospitals and 5 Sub-Divisional Headquarters Hospitals. There is tremendous public appreciation for initiating these facilities in the health sectors.

 

IRRIGATION

A large number of Minor Irrigation projects with an estimated cost of Rs. 20,40,98,080/- including network of Check Dams have been sanctioned by the WODC. Some of them are being made operational very shortly. These are Mayabati and Southern jore in Bolangir District, Maliguda in Kalahandi District, Gundeimara in Deogarh District, Rajamunda and Ranimunda in Nuapada District and Kuliposh and Kuradhi in Sundargarh District.

EDUCATION

With the limited funds available WODC has so far provided Rs. 4,20,00,000/- for infrastructural support to the Schools and Colleges in all the Constituencies. Besides, the WODC is providing contributory share for development of Astrotroph in Hockey Stadium at Sundargarh and for continuing schemes for Infrastructural support to the Schools and Colleges.

 

DRINKING WATER

The WODC has provided 10 tube wells for each Block for drinking water facilities and has taken up specific drinking water projects at Sambalpur, Bolangir and Jharsuguda in a big way and two Rural Pipe Water Supply Schemes in Nuapada District. This year, the WODC has approved projects for minimum 2 Rural Pipe Water Supply Schemes in each Constituency.

NATURAL CALAMITIES AND EMERGENCY RELEIF

The WODC is not far behind in meeting the needs of the people at their worst moment and has provided funds to the tune of Rs. on Drought Mitigation Programme, Flood Relief , and financial assistance to the Fire victims.

These projects were taken up with the recommendation of the Hon'ble Council Members and MLAs who have been involved in the project planning, expenditure monitoring and implementation from beginning to the end. Because of their involvement alone the projects are being speedily implemented with popular participation and transparency.

EXPENDITURE AND AUDIT

All the expenditures of the WODC are being audited by a Chartered Accountant. So far, the WODC has submitted Rs. 32.70 crores towards the UCs to the Government. Grass root projects coming from the people , implemented directly by people’s representative with transparent decision making which is the key to magic achievement, An all PEOPLE’S PROGRAMME.
