Under the direct guidance of the Hon'ble Chief Minister the expression of interests were invited from private sponsors in the prominent National Dailies. In response to the invitations 110 applications have been received from the prominent private sponsors. Under the direction of the Hon'ble Chief Minister a High Level Committee under the Chairmanship of the Development Commissioner, Sri. Srinivas Rath, IAS has been constituted to process these applications and select three(3) suitable private sponsors at the above three(3) places. The High Level Committee has already examined these papers in their five (5) meetings so far. They have appointed one M/s. HSCC (India) Ltd., a Government of India Undertaking as a Consultant to process these papers. Further informations have been asked for from the private participants and the Committee is in final stage of recommending the list of 3 sponsors to set up 3 private Medical Colleges in Western Orissa Districts. From WODC side there is a commitment for Rs. 10.00 crores over a period of three years for each Medical College which will be given in the form of equity support . Also land will be provided by the WODC, the Council in turn have its right in the Management with its own representative as Vice-Chairman of the Managing Committee and an agreement with the private sponsors for some percentage reservation in the admission of students belonging to Western Orissa areas. Also the Committee will try to negotiate with the private sponsors for providing treatment at concessional rate to the poor categories of people. The final report of the Committee is expected by the 1st week of August, 2003 and an agreement with private sponsors is likely by the 15th August, 2003 announced by the Council and the Government simultaneously. |
